Veligandu – Earth Hour 2016 Celebration
The long awaited Earth Hour has finally been celebrated at Veligandu Island Resort and Spa!
The Veligandu team have been busy getting ready for the biggest global environmental event of the year. Earth Hour celebration started in 2007 as a lights-off event in Sydney. Today, the event spans 172 countries and territories worldwide. Turning off the lights for one hour is, of course, merely a symbol for creating long-lasting change both in consumer behaviour and legislation. The Island decided to switch off lights and took part in this world wide inspirational event to help alleviate the negative effects on climate change.
Veligandu Earth Hour started with an acoustic jamming at Thundi Bar while sitting and enjoying the Veli-beautiful sunset. Followed by a buffet beach dinner that was set up under a starlit sky by the Indian Ocean, whispering sweet nothings across a candle-lit table. Both guests and staff loved the “lights off” idea and were very much appreciative of this joint effort to make the Earth Hour Celebration a successful one.
As the saying goes, “Small things can make a big difference” and indeed WE MADE A DIFFERENCE!
